Latest PM Kisan Kist: The Passbook Box

The latest PM Kisan installment is the 23rd. PIB reported that it was released on 20 June 2026 at Tarakeswar in Hooghly district, West Bengal. About ₹18,880 crore went to about 9.44 crore farmers, including about 2.18 crore women. With this kist, total payments since 2019 crossed ₹4.46 lakh crore across 23 installments.

When is the next kist? As of 16 October 2026, no official date for the 24th installment has been announced. Business Standard reported the same on 13 October 2026. The 24th kist belongs to the August to November 2026 period, so it falls inside that window, but only PIB or the official PM-KISAN account can confirm the day. Please ignore videos and forwards that promise a "fixed date" without an official source. One more tip: the home page of pmkisan.gov.in can keep showing older news for some weeks after a release, so do not panic if the banner looks out of date. PM Kisan Samman Nidhi in Short

PM Kisan Samman Nidhi is a Central Sector income support scheme of the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare. It pays ₹6,000 a year to each landholding farmer family, in three installments of ₹2,000, by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into an Aadhaar-seeded bank account. It was launched on 24 February 2019 and counts from 1 December 2018. Each year has three periods:

• April to July (the 23rd kist was paid in this period of 2026)
• August to November (the current period, for the 24th kist)
• December to March

At first only small and marginal farmers were covered. A Cabinet decision of 31 May 2019 opened the scheme to all landholding farmer families, with exclusions such as income tax payers, serving or retired government employees, and pensioners drawing ₹10,000 or more a month. In a Lok Sabha reply on 5 August 2025, the government said there was no proposal to raise the ₹6,000 amount. The Union Budget 2026-27 set aside ₹60,000 crore for the scheme.

Kisan Credit Card and the Kisan Rin Portal

Many farmers search "Kisan Rin Portal" hoping to apply for a loan there. Here is the plain truth. The official Kisan Rin Portal is fasalrin.gov.in. It was launched on 19 September 2023 by the Finance Minister and the Agriculture Minister, together with the Ghar Ghar KCC Abhiyaan. It is used mainly by banks: they report KCC loan data on it and file interest subvention claims through it. PIB says 457 banks are onboarded (37 commercial banks, 46 Regional Rural Banks and 374 cooperative banks). Farmers do not apply for a KCC on this portal. You apply at a bank branch.

Key KCC facts from RBI and PIB:

• Short-term KCC loans up to ₹3 lakh carry 7% interest a year. If you repay on time, a 3% Prompt Repayment Incentive brings the effective rate down to 4%.
• The collateral-free limit is ₹2 lakh per borrower from 1 January 2025, or up to ₹3 lakh where there is a recovery tie-up.
• The Budget 2025-26 announced a ₹5 lakh limit, but RBI's operating circular for 2025-26 (13 January 2026) still applies the 7% and 4% rates only up to ₹3 lakh. Check with your bank.
• PM Kisan beneficiaries can use a one-page KCC form. Under the 2020 KCC saturation drive, banks were asked to act within 14 days of the application.

Farmer ID: Your AgriStack Farmer Registry Number

A Farmer ID is a digital identity created under AgriStack by matching the farmer with digitised land records. Each state builds and keeps its own Farmer Registry. PIB reported more than 9.20 crore Farmer IDs as on 19 March 2026, led by Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. The target is 11 crore farmers by 2026-27. The ID is meant for PM Kisan registration, crop insurance, MSP procurement, input distribution, disaster relief and credit.

Is a Farmer ID needed for PM Kisan? Only for new registrations, and only in some states:

• 1 January 2025: required for new applicants in 10 states (reported by GKToday, January 2025): Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh.
• 5 August 2025: the Minister told the Lok Sabha it was mandatory for new registrations in 14 states.
• 10 March 2026: PIB said it is mandatory only for new registrations in 19 states where farmer registry work has started. The full list of the 19 states was not published. In other states, farmers can still register without a Farmer ID.

State CM Kisan Top-Ups at a Glance

Some states add their own money for farmers who already receive PM Kisan. Each state sets its own amount, dates and portal.

State portal addresses change often and some are copied by fake sites. Confirm the address through your state agriculture department before you type any details.

Three Checks Before Every Kist

The government pays PM Kisan only when three things are complete: land seeding, Aadhaar bank seeding and eKYC. Do these checks a few weeks before each period begins, so a small gap does not cost you a kist.

1. Land seeding: your land record must be verified and seeded by the state. If it shows "No", visit the Patwari, tehsil or block agriculture office with your land papers.
2. Aadhaar bank seeding: your bank account must be linked to Aadhaar and enabled for DBT. Ask your branch to confirm, or open an India Post Payments Bank account.
3. eKYC: complete it by OTP on the official PM Kisan portal (pmkisan.gov.in), by face authentication in the PM-KISAN app, or by fingerprint at a CSC, where the convenience fee is ₹15.
4. Confirm: open Know Your Status on the official portal, enter your registration number and the OTP sent to your registered mobile, and see that all three items show "Yes". eKYC can take about 24 hours to update.

Stay Safe: Use Only Official .gov.in Addresses

Fraudsters copy the look of government pages and send links on WhatsApp. Keep these simple rules:

• PM Kisan: pmkisan.gov.in. Helpline 155261 (listed by PIB as a 24x7 helpline).
• Kisan Rin Portal, used by banks: fasalrin.gov.in.
• Never pay an agent to "release" or "speed up" a kist. No official step needs that.
• Never share an OTP on a call, SMS or chat. Officials do not ask for it.
• KisanRi Guide never collects personal details. Anyone asking for them in our name is a fraudster.
