"Aadhaar Bank Seeding: No" and "Land Seeding: No" are two of the most common reasons a farmer's kist (installment) stops. The words sound technical, but the idea is simple. The government pays PM Kisan money by Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) into bank accounts seeded with Aadhaar, as a Lok Sabha answer of 1 April 2025 confirms. It pays only farmers whose land the State has verified.
This page explains both kinds of seeding, what NPCI mapping is, how to see your own position on the official PM Kisan portal (pmkisan.gov.in), and who to visit to fix each problem. KisanRi Guide is an independent guide. We cannot check or change any seeding for you.
Three things must say Yes
A Lok Sabha answer of 4 February 2025 and PIB backgrounders of November 2025 and June 2026 name the same three requirements for payment.
| Requirement | Who completes it | Where you fix a No |
|---|---|---|
| Land seeding | Your State government, from land records | Tehsil, Block or agriculture office |
| Aadhaar bank seeding (DBT enabled) | Your bank, with your consent | Your bank branch, or an IPPB account |
| eKYC | You, by OTP, face scan or CSC | Portal, app or CSC (see our eKYC guide) |
If even one is No, payment is held. The rest of this page covers the first two.
What Aadhaar bank seeding and NPCI mapping mean
Aadhaar bank seeding means your bank account is linked with your Aadhaar number and enabled to receive DBT. The official material ties this to the NPCI mapper, the national record banks use for Aadhaar-based DBT. This is why bank staff and farmers talk about "NPCI mapping" or a "DBT enabled bank account".
Two practical points follow from this:
- Do not assume. Ask the bank specifically whether your account is DBT-enabled and NPCI-mapped, which is the check Angel One advised in June 2026.
- Keep that account active. A closed or frozen account is one of the reported reasons a payment fails.
Older rule, for context: a PIB press deck of 24 February 2020 noted that from December 2019, payments were made only after Aadhaar authentication.
pmkisan.gov.in के "Know Your Status" में लैंड सीडिंग, आधार बैंक सीडिंग और eKYC तीनों Yes होने चाहिए।
How to see your seeding status
- Open pmkisan.gov.in by typing it yourself.
- Go to "Know Your Status". If you have lost your registration number, use the "Know Your Registration No." link first.
- Enter your registration number and the captcha, then get and enter the OTP sent to your eKYC-registered mobile.
- Read the lines for Land Seeding and Aadhaar Bank Seeding. Each shows Yes or No.
- Note which one is No, then follow the matching section below.

Fixing Aadhaar Bank Seeding: No
Angel One reported in June 2026 that farmers whose payment is delayed should visit their bank branch to confirm the account is DBT-enabled and NPCI-mapped, and that an India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) account is another option.
At your bank branch
- Carry your passbook and Aadhaar card. Hand the documents over only at the bank counter.
- Ask the staff to seed Aadhaar to the account and enable it for DBT.
- Check that the name in the bank matches your Aadhaar and PM Kisan record. A name or IFSC mismatch is a reported cause of failed payments.
- Ask for an acknowledgement and keep it safe.
Through India Post Payments Bank
If your regular bank is far away or the account is closed, an IPPB account at the post office is a route farmers use. A PIB backgrounder of November 2025 also says IPPB can link or update a mobile number with Aadhaar, which helps with OTP-based eKYC and status checks.
After the bank confirms seeding, give the system some time and then check the status line again.
Fixing Land Seeding: No
Land seeding is done by the State, not by you or the bank. Eligible families are identified by States and UTs from land records (PIB, November 2025). A Lok Sabha answer of 4 February 2025 adds that land must have been owned on or before 1 February 2019, unless it came by succession after the owner's death.
- Visit your Tehsil, Block or agriculture office with a copy of your current land record. Guides commonly suggest meeting the Patwari or Lekhpal who maintains the record.
- If the name on the land record differs from Aadhaar, ask for it to be corrected. A PIB release of 10 March 2026 says the PM Kisan grievance mechanism covers land and name mismatches.
- If the land was bought after 1 February 2019, the portal notice says such cases are withheld until physical verification.
- In states where the Farmer Registry has started, a Farmer ID is created by matching you with digitised land records (PIB, 24 March 2026). Read our Farmer ID guide if you do not have one.
What happens to missed installments
A frequent worry is whether the money lost while seeding was No is gone forever. Outlook Business reported in March 2025 that the Agriculture Minister told the Lok Sabha that farmers stopped for unmet mandatory criteria receive their benefits along with due installments once they comply. So fix the problem quickly, keep the receipt, and then track your payments on our payment problems page.
Seeding checklist and safety
- Know Your Status shows Land Seeding: Yes.
- Know Your Status shows Aadhaar Bank Seeding: Yes.
- eKYC Status: Yes.
- The DBT account is active, not closed or frozen.
- Name matches across Aadhaar, bank and land record.
Nobody outside your bank, post office, CSC or government office needs your Aadhaar or account number to "seed" anything. Ignore callers and websites that offer seeding for a fee, use only .gov.in websites, and never share an OTP. If you are stuck, see the official contact routes on our PM Kisan helpline page.
Frequently asked questions
How do I check PM Kisan Aadhaar seeding status?
Open Know Your Status on pmkisan.gov.in, enter your registration number, captcha and the OTP sent to your eKYC mobile. The result shows Aadhaar Bank Seeding as Yes or No. If you have lost your registration number, use the Know Your Registration No. link with your mobile number or Aadhaar first.
What is PM Kisan NPCI mapping?
It refers to the NPCI mapper, the record used for Aadhaar-based DBT payments. For PM Kisan, your bank account must be Aadhaar-seeded and enabled for DBT, which is what people mean by NPCI mapping. Only your bank branch can confirm it, so ask them directly whether your account is DBT-enabled and NPCI-mapped.
How do I make my bank account DBT enabled for PM Kisan?
Visit your bank branch with your passbook and Aadhaar card and ask staff to seed Aadhaar and enable the account for DBT. Make sure your name matches Aadhaar. An India Post Payments Bank account is another option, as Angel One reported in June 2026. Then wait and recheck your status.
PM Kisan land seeding No: what should I do?
Land seeding is done by the State from land records. Visit your Tehsil, Block or agriculture office with your current land record and ask why it is not seeded. Name mismatches can be raised through the PM Kisan grievance mechanism. Land bought after 1 February 2019 is held for verification under the portal notice.
Will I get old installments after fixing Aadhaar seeding?
According to an Outlook Business report of March 2025 on the Agriculture Minister's Lok Sabha reply, farmers stopped for unmet mandatory criteria get their benefits along with due installments once they comply. Fix the seeding, keep proof from the bank, and watch your status for the pending payments.
Can someone online do Aadhaar seeding for me?
No. Aadhaar seeding of a bank account is done by your bank or by India Post Payments Bank, and land seeding is done by State officials. Any website, caller or agent offering seeding for money is a fraud. Never share your Aadhaar, account number or OTP with them.
