When a farmer types "PM Kisan status" into his phone, he usually wants one answer: has my kist (installment) come, and if not, what is stopping it? The official PM Kisan portal (pmkisan.gov.in) gives that answer on its "Know Your Status" page. The method has changed. Earlier you could search with Aadhaar, account number or mobile number. Now the page asks for your registration number (panjikaran sankhya) and an OTP.

This page explains the new flow step by step, shows how to recover a forgotten registration number, and explains what each status line means. KisanRi Guide is an independent guide, not a government website. We cannot see your status and we will never ask for your Aadhaar, registration number, bank details or OTP. Only the official portal can show your record.

Keep these ready before you start

  • Your registration number. If you do not have it, the portal can find it for you (see the next section).
  • The mobile number used for your eKYC. The Know Your Status page says the OTP is sent to the eKYC-registered mobile number. Keep that phone in your hand.
  • A working internet connection and a few minutes. The page has a captcha box, spelt "Capcha" on the portal, so type the letters carefully.
  • No smartphone? A PIB release of 10 March 2026 says farmers without mobiles can use Common Service Centres (CSCs) and state offices at Block or Tehsil level.

If your eKYC is not done yet, finish it first using our PM Kisan eKYC guide, because the status page relies on that mobile number.

Steps to check PM Kisan status on Know Your Status

  1. Open the official PM Kisan portal by typing pmkisan.gov.in yourself in the browser. Do not open links forwarded on WhatsApp.
  2. On the homepage, find the farmers section and open "Know Your Status".
  3. Enter your Registration Number.
  4. Type the captcha letters shown in the "Capcha" box.
  5. Click "Get OTP". An OTP arrives on your eKYC-registered mobile.
  6. Enter the OTP and click "Get Details".
  7. Read the result slowly: the seeding and eKYC lines first, then the installment-wise payment lines.

The OTP is only for you. Type it on the portal and nowhere else. No government officer, bank or helpline will ask you to read it out on a call.

हिंदी में सारांश

पीएम किसान स्टेटस अब आधिकारिक पोर्टल pmkisan.gov.in के "Know Your Status" पेज पर रजिस्ट्रेशन नंबर (पंजीकरण संख्या) और OTP से देखा जाता है।

Stay safe. Use only official addresses ending in gov.in (pmkisan.gov.in for PM Kisan). Registration, status checks and eKYC are free on the portal; a CSC may charge a small official fee for biometric eKYC. Never pay an agent to release an installment, never share an OTP with a caller, and ignore messages with links promising a bonus or a pending payment. This guide never asks for your Aadhaar, bank details or OTP.

Forgot your registration number? Use Know Your Registration No.

Many farmers registered years ago through a CSC or the village patwari and never noted the number. The portal has a separate link for this.

  1. On the Know Your Status page, click the "Know Your Registration No." link.
  2. Choose to search by mobile number or by Aadhaar.
  3. Enter the number, fill the captcha and request the OTP.
  4. Enter the OTP. Your registration number is shown on screen.
  5. Write it in your diary and keep a photo of it. You will need it every time you check your status.

If no registration number comes up, you may not be registered at all, or your registration was done under a different mobile number. Read our PM Kisan registration guide before applying again, because duplicate applications only add delay.

How to read your status result

The PM Kisan eKYC note and a Lok Sabha answer of 4 February 2025 say three things must be in place before money is paid. On the status page each one shows as Yes or No.

Status line What "Yes" means If it says "No"
Land Seeding Your land record has been verified and seeded on the portal by the State Your state has not verified your land yet. See land and Aadhaar seeding
Aadhaar Bank Seeding Your bank account is linked with Aadhaar and enabled for DBT Visit your bank branch to link Aadhaar and enable DBT
eKYC Status Your Aadhaar-based eKYC is complete Do eKYC by OTP, at a CSC, or by face authentication in the app

Only when all three are Yes can an installment be paid. The official eKYC note says a fresh eKYC shows in the status only after 24 hours, so do not repeat it on the same day.

The installment lines below the three checks

Under the Yes or No lines you will see a message for each kist, such as "FTO Generated", "RFT Signed by State" or "Payment Success". These words come from the government payment system. Their meanings are explained by guides and news reports but are not officially defined on the portal, so we explain them, with a full table and the fix for each, on our payment not received page.

A quick rule of thumb: if the latest line says the payment succeeded, the money has been released and your bank should show it. If it says the payment failed, the problem is usually with the bank account, and the amount can be processed again once it is fixed.

What to do after you check

  • All three Yes, money received: nothing to do. Keep your eKYC mobile number active.
  • All three Yes, but no money for the newest kist: first see whether that kist has been released at all. The 23rd installment was released on 20 June 2026 at Tarakeswar in Hooghly, West Bengal, to about 9.44 crore farmers (PIB, 20 June 2026). The 24th belongs to the August to November 2026 period, and Business Standard reported on 13 October 2026 that no official date had been announced. Track it on our installment dates page.
  • Any line says No: fix that line first. Nothing else will help until it turns Yes.
  • Payment held back: the portal homepage says benefits are temporarily withheld in suspected exclusion cases (for example land acquired after 1 February 2019, or more than one family member taking the benefit) until physical verification.
  • Still stuck: use the grievance and helpline routes on our PM Kisan helpline page.

Old Beneficiary Status method versus the new one

Older videos and articles still show a "Beneficiary Status" search where you typed your Aadhaar, account number or mobile number and pressed a button to get data. That method has been replaced. The Know Your Status page on pmkisan.gov.in (last updated 17 February 2026 when we read it) works only with the registration number and an OTP sent to your eKYC mobile. If a website still offers an "Aadhaar only" status search, it is not the official portal. Close it.

Stay safe while checking status

Fake PM Kisan sites and agents are common around every kist. Use only addresses ending in .gov.in, such as pmkisan.gov.in. Never pay anyone to "release" your installment, never share an OTP over the phone, and never send your Aadhaar or registration number by WhatsApp or SMS to anybody. Enter them only on the official PM Kisan portal. For a quick overview of the whole scheme, see our PM Kisan Yojana explainer.

Frequently asked questions

Can I do a PM Kisan status check with Aadhaar card or mobile number?

Not directly any more. The Know Your Status page asks for a registration number and an OTP. If you only have your Aadhaar or mobile number, use the "Know Your Registration No." link first. It finds your registration number after an OTP check. Then go back to Know Your Status and enter that number to see your full record.

Why is the OTP not coming on my phone?

The Know Your Status page sends the OTP to the mobile number registered with your eKYC, which may be an old number. Make sure that SIM is active and has signal. If your Aadhaar-linked mobile has changed, a PIB backgrounder of November 2025 says India Post Payments Bank can link or update a mobile with Aadhaar. A CSC can also help.

My PM Kisan payment status shows eKYC No even after I did eKYC. Why?

The official eKYC note says the eKYC status updates in the beneficiary status after 24 hours. Wait a full day and check again before repeating the process. If it still shows No after that, try another method, such as biometric eKYC at a CSC or face authentication in the PM-KISAN app.

PM Kisan ki agli kist kab aayegi, and will my status show it?

Your status shows a kist only after it is released. The 23rd came on 20 June 2026. The 24th falls in the August to November 2026 period, but as of 13 October 2026 Business Standard reported no official date. Watch PIB and the official PM Kisan X account, and keep your three status lines at Yes.

Is the PM Kisan beneficiary status the same as the beneficiary list?

No. The beneficiary status is your personal record behind an OTP, with seeding, eKYC and payment lines. The village beneficiary list (labharthi suchi) is a public list of names for a village. Use the status to solve payment problems and the list to see whether your name appears in your village.

Does KisanRi Guide show my PM Kisan status?

No. KisanRi Guide is an independent information site. We have no access to government records and never ask for your Aadhaar, registration number or OTP. Your status can only be seen on the official PM Kisan portal, pmkisan.gov.in, or through the PM-KISAN mobile app and Kisan-eMitra chatbot linked from it.
